1. Cut Copy - “Need You Now”
- Why I like it: You have to listen to it once, the whole way through, just to get the build-and-release effect. (Don’t do what I almost did and almost stop 90 seconds in because you think there aren’t any lyrics. There are.)
- What it reminds me of: LCD Soundsystem meets “The Joshua Tree”-era U2

- Why I like it: It’s retro, full of regret, and has clean guitar riffs
- What it reminds me of: the Strokes

- Why I like it: Look at that cover art.
- What it reminds me of: Beach Boys meets Beach House
